Alaska
Since 2006 I have been visiting a different place in Alaska each year, and hope to continue doing so.
2006: Wrangel/St Elias NP, Seward, and Valdez
2007: Homer and Kachemak Bay State Park
Bird Creek Meadows is an area on the southeast side of Mt Adams in the Yakama Nation that is famous for having one of the best displays of wildflowers in southern Washington. I found that in fact the juxtaposition of flowers and running water made for an amazing display.
On August 2, 2009, I did a dayhike of about 4 miles with my sister Lin, who was visiting. Parking at Bird Lake, we walked to the picnic area, then to Crooked Creek and back.
