Since 2006 I have been visiting a different place in Alaska each year, and hope to continue doing so.
2006: Wrangel/St Elias NP, Seward, and Valdez
2007: Homer and Kachemak Bay State Park
Dog Mountain is normally considered just a good workout. It's a steep trail that's a little over 3 miles long. But for a couple of weeks in the spring it becomes an astonishing display of wildflowers. Many types are there but the yellow balsamroot dominate. These were taken on May 27 and 28, 2009. The mountain shot is Mt Hood on the left and Mt Defiance on the right.
