Bristlecone pines are the oldest living things. Some live to be over 3000 years, and "alive" might mean one branch or even one strip of wood on a branch, when the rest is dead. This is a trick that other trees cannot do. There are a number of bristlecone groves within Great Basin National Park. One is a two mile hike from the Wheeler Peak Campground area, which is a mile or so past the Wheeler Peak Summit trailhead. Here are some shots I got of the trees from that grove.
