Alaska
Since 2006 I have been visiting a different place in Alaska each year, and hope to continue doing so.
2006: Wrangel/St Elias NP, Seward, and Valdez
2007: Homer and Kachemak Bay State Park
Hole-in-the-Ground is the name of a cross-country ski loop out of the Pineside Sno-park about 4 miles north of Trout Lake, on the southern slopes of Mt. Adams. I'm developing a habit of doing an early-season snow camp there each year.
This was my camp on February 23, 2008 - a heavy snow year.

And here are a series of shots from my visit to the same general area on March 26, 2009. Start with Pineside Sno-park parking lot.

The uphill road

Pinecones helping the snow to melt.

I found a melted out spot this time, and so it seems that the name of the loop is appropriate for my campsite.

A nice sunset.

Morning coffee.
