Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness

This is not the same Samon River, the big one in Idaho and Washington. The Salmon/Huckleberry Wilderness is a relatively small one just south of Mt. Hood. It is relatively low in altitude for being so close to Mt. Hood, with the valleys around 2000 feet and the ridges and local peaks at 4000 feet or a little higher. A good paced road leaves highway 26 above Sandy. The area is a lush old growth forest.
