I've only been to the coast once since I moved here so it was time for another visit.
The first hike I did was Cape Falcon. It was drizzling on and off. There is a short side-trail that goes to the beach at Short Sand Beach
Coast trail are famous for their mud
There is a small waterfall before the cape
And lots of shorebirds
Prominent rocks near the cape
And with a closeup, not falcons at Cape Falcons, but Bald Eagles (including a young one not yet bald)
Looking back at Short Sand Beach
Then I headed to Cape Lookout State Park to camp for the night.
Finally the weather is clearing near sunset
The next morning I hiked two trail segments - Cape Lookout North and Cape Lookout.
Looking back at Netarts Spit
There were a number of these root tunnels
Looking through the forest to the beach
This trail is also famous for mud. The first half is covered with gravel, and then some sections are improved with boardwalk
Some are not
The payoff is big at the end
