Warren Lake dayhike

I did a dayhike to Warren Lake up the steep Starvation Ridge trail during a heat wave in mid-May to see what conditions were like.

Two more views of Dog Mountain, a popular hike

The trail stays on the ridge for a long time

A steep section of a trail that gains almost 4000 feet in just over 3 miles

The trail contours off the ridge, and to the first patches of snow

A larger patch of snow at about 3500 feet

More snow as we approach the ridge-top at about 3800 feet

Warren Lake still covered with snow on May 17

Melting out next to the lake
