Alaska
Since 2006 I have been visiting a different place in Alaska each year, and hope to continue doing so.
2006: Wrangel/St Elias NP, Seward, and Valdez
2007: Homer and Kachemak Bay State Park
Wind Mountain is on the north side of the Columbia River. Because its trailhead is off the highway and there is no sign for it anywhere, it never gets crowded. The pictures of talus rock with depressions in it are old Native American ceremonial sites. It is not known exactly what they were used for. Or if it is, they ain't talkin'.
